Greetings, I've set up this little site to give people an idea of the work I do and provide opportunities to share resources with others involved in marine conservation.
My work is all about the ocean. I have always been very involved with the ocean since childhood and have spent my life discovering and learning about the ocean. These days I am pretty focused on conservation. In simple terms I think the ocean can be restored to a more natural and abundant past condition and we have a responsibility to make this happen. So that is my current focus in life - to make marine conservation happen here in New Zealand and especially Northland.
I am currently working as a biologist and consultant based in Northland, New Zealand. My work has a focus on practical marine science like habitat mapping and monitoring which support marine protection initiatives. I balance science work with photography and advocacy work with communities and government departments. In the education and advocacy part of my work I am constantly searching for effective ways to postively engage communities in marine conservation and the establishment of a network of marine reserves in New Zealand. And yes we need your help in this.
You can also see info on this site about my other work interest which is coral reef ecology. In the last five years I have been doing yearly trips to the Pacific learning about coral reefs and conservation in our Island neighbor communities. See the Pacific Work Page for details.

On the pages of this site you will see summaries of past work and projects I am currently involved in.
